The cost of goods and services continues to go up every year, but Oklahoma’s minimum wage hasn’t increased since 2009. I support State Question 832, which would gradually raise our minimum wage to $15.00 per hour by 2029. Regardless of the vote on SQ 832, I believe the legislature should address employee wages without a citizen initiative petition.
We need to diversify the types of jobs available in Oklahoma. Recent headlines show companies relocating to other states due to the lack of investment we’ve made, both in our public infrastructure and in our people. Once elected, I will work to ensure that we become an attractive state to anyone looking to do business.
Oklahoma’s middle class is strongest when employees collectively bargain for their wages and terms of employment. I support the right of all workers to form or join a labor union, and I oppose any efforts to weaken union protections in state law.
